MOTHER'S DAY SPECIAL: Jachebed; A Portrait of a Godly Woman

Exodus 2:1-10

JOCHEBED: A Portrait of A Godly Mother

Text: Exodus 2:1-10; Various

Big Idea: Jochebed was a godly mother who can teach us a few things.

Date: 05-09-2021 Beaver Creek Christian Church

Renoir was renowned for his impressionist portraits of women. Although he captured the emotional essence of motherhood he did not capture powerful influence that a godly mother has on her children. Today we are going to look a Jochebed and see if we can capture the essences of a godly mother as we gaze into the Biblical portrait.

CLEAR VISION!

John 9; Various

SERMON NOTES: VISION QUEST: 02 - Clear Vision

Text: Psalm 119:18; John 9:1-41; Various

Big Idea: Jesus can give us clear vision. Vision to see spiritually.

Date: 05-02-2021 Beaver Creek Christian Church

When our vision gets blurry we go to an eye doctor for help because our vision needs correction. The same is true in with our faith. There are so many things that can effect your spiritual vision and limit your abilities and productivity in the kingdom (Ps 119:18; 2 Co 4:18; Pr 29:18; Ps 119:48). John’s gospel contains a wonderful 1-on-1 divine appointment of Jesus bringing both physical and spiritual vision. Let’s look at the account in John 9 and see what we can glean about having clear vision.

Text: Psalm 37:1-9; Pr 29:10; Various

SERMON NOTES: VISION QUEST: 01 - Oh! Which Way Should I Go? Text: Psalm 37:1-9; Pr 29:10; Various

Big Idea: We need Godly vision for our personal lives.

Date: 04-25-2021 Beaver Creek Christian Church

You need a clear vision for your life. Some people have this but unfortunately others do not. Those who do often do not include God in their plans. But we need Godly vision for our personal lives (Pr 29:18; Ju 21:25; Ja 4:13-17; Je 29:11) David talked about Godly vision all through his life (Ps 23; 37). A clear vision will come as you follow the Lord.

Date: 04-18-2021 Beaver Creek Christian Church

The Lawyer asked a loaded question as he tested Jesus. “Who is my neighbor?” He was really asking how far his responsibility to love others extended (Lk 10:24-29). Jesus answered in a way that no one would have expected. He drew a wide circle around what it means to be a neighbor.

SEEING JESUS

Luke 24:13-35; Various

SERMON NOTES: Seeing Jesus

Text: Luke 24:13-35; Various

Big Idea: Sometimes it’s hard to see Jesus amidst our preconceived notions even when he is standing right before us.

Date: 04-11-2021 Beaver Creek Christian Church

Have you ever had that experience when you can’t see something and it’s right in front of you? We all have. What about Jesus? Have you ever looked for Him but could not sense his presence? That’s a dark place to be at but it’s similar to where some of Jesus’ followers found themselves after his crucifixion. (Luke 24:13-35).

ON THE ROAD TO THE CROSS

Luke 9:51; Various

SERMON NOTES: ON THE ROAD TO THE CROSS

Text: Luke 9:51; Various

Big Idea: Jesus knew his journey led to the cross. As followers we are to calvary companions of Jesus. We are on the road to the cross.

Date: 03-28-2021 Beaver Creek Christian Church

The Road to the Cross has been a long journey. Palm Sunday commemorates Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem. But this was not the start of the road(Jn 1:29; Lk 2:11; Is 53:6;Ge 3:7; Titus 1:2). That began all the way back before we were created (Ep 1:3-8). It was God’s plan all along to rescue man and help us reach our full potential in Him. Jesus knew this mission because he planned it from the beginning with God and he gladly walked the road to the cross.

Touch has gotten a black eye as of late but appropriate touch is what the world needs right now. Touch is important for good health. Some scientist and doctors are concerned that some people are starving from a lack of touch. In our sermon today, Jesus gives three types of touch in dealing with a leper. We need to offer this kind of touch to others. Are your ready to touch the untouchables for Jesus.

IN THE SHADOW OF THE ALMIGHTY

Text: Psalm 91:1-16; Various

Big Idea: What does it mean to be in the shadow of the Almighty?

Date: 02-28-2021 Beaver Creek Christian Church

We live in uncertain times where fear looms at every corner. But as Christians we are not to dwell in fear but to dwell in the shadow of the Almighty. Psalm 91 reminds of this but what does it look like and how can we apply it to our lives.

Text: Acts 28:11-31; Various

Big Idea: Paul finished strong. He was blessed for his faithfulness

Date: 02-21-2021 Beaver Creek Christian Church

Finishing strong in anything is important. In many cases, how you end is important because it is a testimony to why you started in the first place. In Acts 28:11-31, Paul finishes this course of his ministry strong. In this passage Paul gives us some clues to finishing strong. We can finish strong if we follow his example.

Text: Acts 28:1-10; Various

Big Idea: We will face snakes of many kinds in life. Paul shows us in God how to shake them off and keep going.

Date: 02-14-2021 Beaver Creek Christian Church

I don’t like snakes. Snakes are a metaphor for some of the troubles we face in life. Paul faced a very real snake but it may not have been as deadly as the other snakes he faced that night. Paul shows us how to shake off the snakes that try to bite us.

The ACTS of Us: 45 - It's Not About The Size Of The Storm

Text: Acts 27:1-44; Various

Big Idea: Paul knew the right place to turn. It’s not about the size of the storm but rather the size of your God.

Date: 02-07-2021 Beaver Creek Christian Church

The perfect storm is a term for a particularly violent storm that arises from a combination of adverse meteorological factors. It is also a metaphor for a combination of personal troubles which bring devastation into our lives. It’s not about the size of the storm in your life but rather it’s about the size of your God. In Acts 27:1-44, Paul shows us how to respond to the perfect storms that come our way.

With a powerful vision cast, we can accomplish incredible things. Paul was given a powerful vision as well. That vision set the course for his life. It allowed him to carry the gospel message into foreign lands, face overwhelming obstacles, and accomplish incredible things through God’s power. Acts 26:1-32 also reminds us of our heavenly vision that sets the course for our life.
