NIGHTLY BIBLE DEVOTIONS - 05-08-2021
What is one of the biggest thing that gets in the way of having a vision in your life and in the church? Apathy is one of the biggest obstacle (Pr 15:19; Ja 4:17; 2 Tm 4:3-4; Ep 5:16; Pr 18:9; Ro 12:11; Re 3:15-16)
Apathy is one of the biggest obstacle (Pr 15:19; Ja 4:17; 2 Tm 4:3-4; Ep 5:16; Pr 18:9; Ro 12:11; Re 3:15-16)
-Apathy doesn’t care what we do as long as it doesn’t involve him.
-Apathy doesn’t want to do anything
-Apathy doesn’t want to change anything
-Apathy doesn’t want to have to contribute or expend energy
-In truth, Apathy doesn’t care about what others think or feel. Apathy doesn’t understand compassion.
-Apathy doesn’t like missionary visits, doesn’t want to do fund-raiser, and doesn’t feel like giving to special offerings.
-Apathy doesn’t want to step out of the comfort zone.
-To be honest, Apathy hasn’t surrendered fully to Jesus. Apathy’s love for the Lord is weak and will fold under pressure.
-Apathy cares little for a lost and dying world because he’s already bought his golden ticket to heaven… bought his fire insurance…
Proverbs 15:19 -The way of a sluggard is like a hedge of thorns, but the path of the upright is a level highway.
James 4:17 - So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.
2 Timothy 4:3-4 -For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.
Ephesians 5:16 -Making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.
Proverbs 18:9 - Whoever is slack in his work is a brother to him who destroys.
Romans 12:11 - Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord.
Revelation 3:15-16 - “‘I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were either cold or hot! So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.
Apathy is laziness. Apathy is destructive. Apathy is comfortable right where it is now. And in God’s eyes, Apathy is a sin. Apathy stands in the way of the Lord. So to quote the title of a book I once read, "Lead, Follow, or Get Out of His Way!"
The church that is moving has zeal and excitement. But Apathy is like an anchor which holds people back.
