Leonardo's Last Supper Comes To Life

the moment

Leonardo Da Vinci's famous painting "The Last Supper" came to life Easter evening 2004, in the sanctuary of Beaver Creek Christian Church. Thirteen men of the congregation presented a look into what may have been in the minds of Christ's disciples when He spoke the words, "One of you shall betray me." Their words illuminate the expressions of surprise, anger, fear and shock that you can see in the painted faces of the masterpiece.

A painted backdrop set the stage, reproducing Da Vinci's use of perspective to draw the eye to the central figure of Christ. Many hours of research and preparation went into the props, makeup and costumes to reproduce the look of the world famous painting. Lighting was provided by Ashe County Little Theatre. Weeks of practice by the men of the Beaver Creek congregation under the direction of pastor Creighton Beatty paid off with a flawless performance before a packed house on a rainy April evening.

As a climax to the event, Communion was served to the church by the "Apostles".

The Beaver Creek Christian Church is located on the Beaver Creek School Road, just under two miles from Ingles Grocery, on the curve. For more info, call 336-246-3795 or check out the church's website, BeaverCreekChristian.net.
